FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Investigators were out all night after a violent attack. A man was found shot to death in West Central Fresno, leaving detectives in search of clues.

Late Thursday night around 10 police got a call about a man down in a parking lot near Clinton and Marks. When officers got on scene they found the young man on the ground who they believe is a victim of a shooting.

Officers called EMS immediately but it was already too late. Now their investigation begins-- collecting evidence and piecing together a difficult puzzle because they are not sure exactly where this shooting took place or if the victim was dumped in the area.

"At this point, we're working the scene to gather evidence to try to get him identified. At this point we cannot confirm who he is, so that's probably the first step in our investigation," Fresno Police Department Capt. Burke Farrah said.

Officers are working with witnesses at this time as well. Anyone with information is asked to call Fresno Police.

Investigators said they did have a call about shots fired earlier in the evening but are not sure if that is related to this case.
