After arriving, they say the crowd had taken off and no one out there was giving information on what happened.
"About five to eight minutes later, a victim of the shooting showed up at the hospital," Lt. Carl McKnight said. "He relayed that it happened back at the tennis court near Holmes Playground and four shell casings were found.
Authorities say the 17-year-old shooting victim was driven about a mile down the road by friends to Community Regional Medical Center.
Police are not sure if it is gang-related and are still looking for suspects. They hope surveillance cameras on a recreation building will paint a clear picture of what happened and who was involved.
The victim is expected to be okay.
