The Sierra Unified School district has voted to make masks optional.
The vote came during Wednesday's district board meeting.
Effective immediately, masks are now optional for students.
The district will continue to provide N95 masks on campuses but officials say using them will be a personal choice for students.
Current state rules require all students wear masks indoors.
State health officials say that requirement will be re-evaluated at the end of this month.
