FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man is in the hospital after being stabbed Tuesday night in Northeast Fresno. Police said the altercation began near Friant and Cooper.

According to investigators two people got into a confrontation and then drove off. The victim noticed the suspect following him and pulled over. That is when the second fight took place resulting in a man in his 20's getting stabbed in the upper body.

"In this case we are dealing with a situation with some known subjects who know each other, involving some prior history, and so we are developing information we need to identify our suspect and get that person in custody," said Steve Card with the Fresno Police Department.

The victim is currently in critical condition at Community Regional Medical Center.
