2 suspects arrested accused of deadly stabbing in Merced last year

MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police have made arrests in the murder of 33-year-old Luis Gonzalez.

Officers arrested Toby Onate and Mauricio Soriano Tuesday.

Onate was booked for murder, while Soriano was charged with assault and robbery.

Gonzalez was attacked last November in an alley behind the McDonalds on R and 13th streets.

Investigators said Onate was directly involved in the stabbing of Gonzalez. They said Soriano came moments later and assaulted him before stealing his bike.

Police believe they will make more arrests in the case.

This was Merced's only murder of the year.
