CHP officers said a rear tire popped and caught fire-- a valve also came loose on the truck itself. Fire crews rushed to the scene and were able to put it out quickly.
Sgt. Manuel Peregrina with the CHP said, "The time of day, the evening, not much traffic, so that also helped a lot to deal with the cleaning."
About 10 to 12 gallons had spilled, but the valve leak was contained.
No one was hurt and no word on what sparked the fire. Central between Maple and Chestnut was closed off for several hours.
