The Fresno County sheriff's office says deputies were called to the EZ Trip travel center on Lassen Avenue along I-5 Saturday morning for reports of a man who had been stabbed.
Through their investigation, detectives determined the truck driver was a good samaritan giving the suspect a ride to the gas station just before the stabbing.
The truck driver did not survive.
The suspect stayed at the scene and was detained.
The Fresno County Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect as 21-year-old Isaiah Harley.
Investigators believe he may also be responsible for a carjacking in Oakland Friday evening and a stabbing and carjacking in Bakersfield Friday night.
Officials are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Fresno County Sheriff's Office.
