Valley Focus: Rei Hotoda Will Make History In Fresno

The Fresno Philharmonic is about to make history in October. Rei Hotoda will conduct her inaugural concert as Music Director of the Fresno Philharmonic on October 15, 2017.

Hotoda is the eighth music director in the orchestra's history and the first woman to hold the position. She was chosen after a two-year search with over 100 candidates. She is the former Associate Conductor of the Utah Symphony and former Assistant Conductor of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

The October 15 concert features pianist Natasha Paremski performing Grieg's Piano Concerto and Respighi's Powerful pines of Rome which features 17 brass players.

The 2017-18 season is an exciting mix of classical masterpieces and works by 5 living composers.
