FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Deputies say a car that went into the Friant-Kern Canal Thursday night was empty.
It was first reported at about 8 pm right off Highway 180 and Alta Avenue, just east of Minkler.

A dive team responded and emergency crews were at the scene for several hours, but no one was found inside the car or elsewhere.
The scene was cleared at about midnight.

It's not yet known how the car ended up in the canal.
