Deadly Clovis crash: DUI suspect in jail after dad of 2 killed on Father's Day

Ashton McKiearnan's two kids were in the back seat of his car when it was hit head-on by a pickup truck.

CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- Father's Day ended in tragedy for one Valley family.

Police say 41-year-old Ashton McKiearnan was killed when an alleged drunk driver crashed into his car head-on.

It happened on Ashlan at Sunnyside Avenue in the Tarpey Village area at about 7 pm Sunday.

CHP officers say a black pickup truck being driven by 35-year-old Narayana Zerr was heading east on Ashlan and swerved into oncoming traffic, hitting another vehicle.

McKiearnan, his wife and their two children were in that car. Police say he died at the scene.

The woman was also hurt but is expected to survive. One of the children suffered several broken bones.



Zerr was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail.
