PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KFSN) -- A 79-year-old man was arrested Saturday after police say he shot two people during an argument at a home in Porterville.

Porterville police say they were called around 2:49 p.m. to Locust Avenue near B Street for a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers and detectives arrived and began providing medical aid to the victim.

While giving aid, they learned the shooting had taken place at a nearby home and that a female victim was still inside with the suspect.

Officers went to the home, where they found the woman and the suspect, identified as Manuel Chavez.

The woman was found with gunshot wounds, and Chavez was arrested without incident, police said.

Both victims were taken to the hospital. Their conditions have not been released.

Investigators determined that Chavez and the victims knew each other.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Porterville Police Department.
