VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Relieved but overwhelmed is how 57-year-old Margarita Verduzco's family says they are feeling now that a person has been arrested in connection to the grandmother's death.

On June 20, she was brutally attacked and sexually assaulted at a bus stop in Visalia.

She died 10 days later.

The suspect, 20-year-old Adrian Hernandez Medrano, was found in Alaska this week and is now in police custody facing multiple charges.

"I don't have any words for him, I have no words for him. But I will be there for every court date and I will see the end date until he is sentenced because she didn't deserve that," says Monica Avila, Margarita's daughter.

That night, police say, he also sexually assaulted two other women.

All three were homeless and staying near Oval Park.

"Nobody deserved that, not even the other people there that this happened to them. I hope they go to court too, so they can testify against him because my mom can't," expresses Monica.

Margarita was raised in Orange Cove, spent some time in Chicago working at a factory and eventually moved back to the Central Valley.

She became homeless 15 years ago, after a divorce and losing custody of her triplets.

Her eldest daughter, Monica Avila, is left with only photos and a voice recording her mom left behind.

In that voice recording Margarita says, "I keep reading my bible, and I think about god every single day of my life, and everyday that passes by, I love him even more because he is the one that is keeping me alive."

Margarita was suffering from kidney failure and had just left the hospital before the attack.

Her daughter was by her side on her last days.

"Sometimes it makes me wonder, that if God kept her alive, why couldn't he keep her alive a little longer," expresses Monica.

And at 41, Monica is also facing kidney failure.

All while raising her kids, including 5-year-old Armani, who is just 17 pounds.

He was born with a rare condition, has encountered health obstacles for most of his life, but this week he started walking.

"He is what keeps me going, him and my kids keep me going," expresses Monica.

If you would like to support Margarita Verduzco's family during this difficult time, they do have a GoFundMe for funeral expenses.

The family mentions they are thankful for all donations and once they have gathered the funds they will be able to lay their loved one to rest.
