Heavy police activity in Southwest Fresno connected to Saturday night shooting

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- There is heavy police activity in the area of Bardell and Vine Avenues in Southwest Fresno.

Officials have confirmed the activity is related to the wanted suspect connected to the attempted murder of a police officer Saturday night.

Chief Mindy Casto is on the scene along with more than a dozen police units, SWAT and a BearCat vehicle.

Several streets around Bardell and Vine Avenues are closed.

Bardell Avenue is blocked off at Dorthy Avenue. Vine Avenue is blocked off at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.



Police are asking residents to avoid the area.

Chief Casto says authorities are trying to make contact with the suspect.
