FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The countdown to Independence Day begins. It's a big one this year for America's 250th birthday.

Many are already hitting the roads for early celebrations.

AAA expects more than 60 million Americans to hit the road. That would be a new record.

Some good news for drivers is that gas prices are falling, including in the Central Valley.

Prices have dropped 58 cents in the last month.

AAA says the average price for a gallon of gas is now $3.87. They note that's still almost 30 percent higher than before the Iran war.

If you're looking for some bargains in the Valley, GasBuddy reports the cheapest gas in Fresno County is at the EZ Stop on West Shaw at $4.29.

In Merced County, it's the ARCO in Santa Nella at $4.91.

In Tulare County, the Sinclair on Blackstone is at $4.52.
