The first crash was reported around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Rowell and Olive avenues.
Police said a motorcyclist was heading west on Olive when a silver Jeep making a left turn pulled out in front of the rider, causing a collision.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the silver Jeep, identified as 33-year-old Yzamar Mendez, was later taken into custody. Police said Mendez returned to the scene while officers were still investigating the crash.
She was booked into jail for felony hit and run and for driving with a suspended license.
"Initially, this came in as a hit-and-run collision. However, we did locate the driver who walked away from the scene and walked right back up to officers," said Lt. Marcus Gray II of the Fresno Police Department.
While officers were still investigating that crash, a second motorcycle incident occurred just steps away at the intersection of Cedar and Olive avenues.
Police said that rider was also taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
"That is a completely separate collision, not related at all. That's just a solo rider that went down in the intersection," Gray said.
Authorities said drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in either crash at this time. Police are reminding drivers and riders to stay alert on the road.
"Just want to remind people to make sure they're driving vigilantly. Remain vigilant, make sure you're paying attention and riding and driving safely," Gray said.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
