They were on their way home from dinner back on October 13 when they were involved in a crash on Friant Road near Champlain Drive.

An award-winning cardiologist from Kerman, Dr. Alfred Valles served as president of the board at the Heart Group.

Selina Valles was a real estate agent at London Realty in Northwest Fresno.

A public celebration of life will be held for the couple on November 18 at the Peoples Church.

"He was not one to toot his own horn. He was (a) very humble person. Selina has been actively giving up herself and compassion to people who were dying in hospice," said Lottie Valles, Alfred's mother.

It was an emotional goodbye as Lottie remembered her son and daughter-in-law.

During the service, those who knew the couple best shared powerful stories about their lives and the time spent with them.

The couple lost their lives just two weeks ago on their way home from a Friday night dinner.

Fresno police say the car was going at a high rate of speed on Friant when it struck a tree, according to a witness.

The two passed away at the scene.

The couple left behind three children, including two daughters and one son.

Two of Alfred and Selina's kids remembered their parents as a strong and committed couple who loved them unconditionally.

"They worked so hard together. My mom would sit with my dad for hours studying flashcards, waking us up in the middle of the night to take my dad to work when he was on call and waiting for his long shifts to be over," said Madison, the couple's daughter.

"She not only made time for me, but she would make an effort to make me feel loved," said the couple's son, Diego.

As those at the church watched a slideshow of Alfred and Selina's life at the end of the service, many became emotional remembering the couple and the legacy they leave behind.
