Crews from Live Nation were busy Wednesday morning transforming the football field into a concert venue, with semi-trucks rolling in and stage construction underway. Fresno State Athletics Director Garrett Klassy said the process has been intense.
"Shakira's team has been nothing but incredible to work with," Klassy said. "It's been a lot of hard work, but extremely rewarding."
Fresno was a late addition to Shakira's "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour," prompting a coordinated effort between the university, the city and Live Nation to ensure the event runs smoothly.
Klassy urged concertgoers to arrive early and stay hydrated, noting that both the red and white parking lots will be open, along with auxiliary lots on campus.
Pardini's Catering is partnering on concessions, providing additional water stations, beverages and restrooms.

Nearby Wesley United Methodist Church will offer more than 350 parking spaces starting at 5 p.m.
"It's a win-win for everyone -- the neighborhood, the church and the people parking," said Andy Hansen-Smith, a representative from the church.
American Ambulance, which regularly staffs Fresno State football games, will be on-site for the concert with two dozen paramedics and EMTs. Officials are taking extra precautions due to the expected heat and high energy levels in the crowd.
"It's going to be substantially hotter on the floor of the venue compared to the wings," said Ben Wiele of American Ambulance. "Keep that in mind if you have floor tickets."

Klassy said he hopes the concert sets a new standard for the stadium as a destination for major events.
"It's going to be a full house, and we're excited," he said. "We're ready to show the region that this is a premier concert destination for global superstars."
