FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police arrested a teenager after they say he accidentally shot himself in Southeast Fresno. It happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the area of Woodrow and Woodward avenues.
Fresno police officers went there to check out a call of shots fired. They discovered the 14-year-old suspect's ex-girlfriend was inside a home with her new boyfriend. Investigators say the teen was shooting into the air trying to scare her.
The suspect fired about a half dozen rounds from this .22-caliber rifle before the gun jammed. As the teen tried to clear the gun, he accidentally shot himself in the leg. He's now facing charges for negligent discharge of a firearm.
