News Reporter

KFSN-TV/ABC30 Action News, the Disney/ABC-owned television station in Central California, is seeking a General Assignment Reporter to join our top-rated news team. We want someone who thrives on chasing breaking news, being the top story and owning the competition.

The ideal candidate will report for the station's newscasts and digital platforms, all while keeping the audience updated along the way on social media. Our reporters are expected to turn creative and memorable stories and then front them with active live shots. The ideal candidate innovates every day and is willing to experiment with new technology. This person must be organized and work well under pressure and constant deadlines. We want someone who is receptive to feedback and brings a positive attitude every day.

Responsibilities:

  • You must be able to research, set up, and write content on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate with photojournalists, producers, assignment editors, and managers to execute story assignments.
  • Ability to effectively handle breaking news live on-air without a script.
  • Ability to shoot and edit stories as needed.
  • Fill-in anchoring as needed.
  • Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years of reporting experience is required. This is not an entry-level position.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    Knowledge of the Central Valley and bilingual skills are a plus.

    Education:

    Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university or equivalent years of experience.

    Additional Information:

    The hiring range for this SAG-AFTRA role in Fresno, CA, is $61,489.00 to $76,654.00 annually. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The role also has the potential for additional compensation for overtime and early morning/overnight shifts. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, depending on the level and position offered.     News Photographer

    KFSN-TV ABC30, the Disney/ABC Owned Television Station in Central California, is seeking an experienced News Photographer. We are looking for a modern content creator who works productively as a team with a reporter or independently. We want someone to join our team who is inherently creative, embraces new technology and wants to experiment on a daily basis. Successful candidate will be highly motivated with a proven track record in the fast-paced, high-pressure environment of daily local news gathering. You will be a good fit if you are unfazed by constant deadlines for all platforms and are a problem-solver. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic.

    Responsibilities:

    Day-to-day local news gathering in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a photojournalist with live transmission (satellite, microwave/broadband and streaming technology).
  • Must be experienced and proficient with a variety of professional quality cameras.
  • Must have a clean driving record and be willing join the IBEW union.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
  • Required Qualifications:

    Small to medium market experience as a News Photographer/Editor.

    Required Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent years of experience.

    Preferred Education:

    Some college preferred.

    Additional Information:

    The base pay range for this IBEW Union role in Fresno, California is $37,000 to $72,675 per year which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.     Weather Anchor

    KFSN-TV/ABC30 Action News, the Disney/ABC-owned television station in Central California is looking for a Weather Anchor to join our #1 rated weekday morning news team. This person must have a strong on-air presence and a commanding, authoritative delivery, who knows how to turn weather data into relevant information for viewers. Candidates must have experience covering severe weather on live TV. We want someone who strives to present an innovative weathercast on broadcast and digital platforms. You must be comfortable with the very latest in weather tools and technology.

    Be prepared to show examples of how you embrace new technologies and new digital platforms to connect with and inform viewers. We want someone who wants to be involved in the community, is passionate about their work, and enjoys being part of a team.

    Responsibilities:

  • Forecast weather conditions 10 days out for Fresno and Central California
  • Prepare relevant weather maps and innovative graphics to communicate the weather forecast and expected impacts.
  • Present the forecast during live broadcasts and recordings for digital platforms.
  • Communicate life-saving information to people during dangerous weather events.
  • Basic Qualifications:

  • Skilled in analyzing weather observations to identify important atmospheric features.
  • Skilling in utilizing computer model data to produce an accurate forecast.
  • Possesses a knowledge of atmospheric dynamics and tropical meteorology.
  • Proficient in producing graphics through IBM's Max software.
  • Required Qualifications:

    A minimum 3 years of experience broadcasting in a small or medium market.

    Required Education:

    Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology or associated geoscience preferred.

    Additional Information:

    The pay range for this SAG-AFTRA Union role in Fresno, California is $65,000 to $75,000 per year. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
