A service member at U.S. Naval Air Station in Lemoore, Charles Ray Benavidez, was sentenced to 10-years in prison for sex trafficking of a minor.

Benavidez, a 33-year-old Aviation Ordnanceman (Second Class), knowingly recruited a 17-year-old female to engage in prostitution in Kings and Tulare counties.

Benavidez pled guilty to the charges in January.

"For most people, criminal acts against children are impossible to comprehend, but for the children who have been sexually exploited, these crimes are all too real," said Mike Prado, resident agent in charge of HSI Fresno. "The physical and emotional scars are difficult, if not impossible, to outgrow. HSI will continue to work tirelessly to ensure child predators and sex traffickers receive the justice they deserve."

Police said Charles Benavidez pimped a 17-year-old girl from Porterville. They only found out about it because her younger sister acted out in school and when she got called to a meeting with administrators and her parents, she told them what was going on with her sister.
