FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police plan to have an increased presence at Madera High School on Monday.

Authorities say it's in response to rumors about threats of a school shooting, which they have determined are not true.

It all started because of a conversation on Twitter about the school's decision to end a program that allows students who are meeting standards to be dismissed from class a few minutes early.

Students with differing opinions began personally attacking each other. But police say no one made any specific threats.

They're just planning to have extra officers on hand to ease the minds of parents, students and staff.
