Fresno Police continue search for suspect accused of shooting at family of three, killing one
Officers say Lavale Vean knows police are looking for him and they suspect he may be staying in Las Vegas.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Detectives say 20-year-old Lavale Vean showed complete disregard for human life when he fatally injured one of the victims back in October.

Officers say Vean knows police are looking for him and they suspect he may be staying in Las Vegas.

In the minutes before detectives surrounded the Northwest Fresno neighborhood, police say Lavale Vean pulled up to the Ramos' residence intending to kill.

Detectives say he knew the victims.

Lt. Dave Madrigal of the Fresno Police Department said, "This case is an isolated case, they were specifically targeted for reasons I can't disclose right now."

A father, mother, and son were all rushed to the hospital where 52-year-old Roberto Ramos died from his injuries.

Officers told us the family was not involved in gangs or criminal activity.

Ramos was a hardworking man, dedicated to his family and his job at In-N-Out. The suspect, on the other hand, is well known to police.

"There are some other concurrent investigations going on right now involving Lavale Vean, he is wanted for some outside charges not by our agencies but by outside agencies."

While Vean is believed to be in Las Vegas police say he also has close ties to the valley.

"He's known in Madera, he resides in Madera there are people that know him and we are encouraging them to call," Lt. Madrigal said.

Vean was on active probation for armed robbery at the time of the shooting. The U.S. Marshals are now helping the department in their efforts to track him down.

Officers say the suspect is armed and dangerous. If you have knowledge of his whereabouts -- you should not approach him, but call the police.
