Body found at Bass Lake

The Madera County Sheriff's office is investigating a suspicious death.

Deputies say a passerby found a woman's body was found partially submerged Saturday evening at the edge of Bass Lake near Mallard Drive. The 48-year-old woman's name and cause of death have not been released.

There is no indication of foul play, according to detectives. Authorities say Gillespie would often go for walks in that area of the lake; however, detectives are still trying to determine all events leading up to her becoming immersed in the shallow stream.
