FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A fire destroyed an abandoned commercial building in the South Valley on Saturday.

The Tulare County Fire Department shared a photo of the flames shooting out of what used to be Rene's Custom Paint and Body Shop in Lindsay. The 100,000-square-foot building was located on Elmwood Avenue near Honolulu Street.

Crews say it was fully engulfed and threatening nearby structures when they arrived around 11 a.m. An Action News viewer captured the moments as the walls collapsed into a pile of rubble and ash.

There's no word yet on what caused the fire, or the dollar amount of the damage, but crews were able to protect the surrounding businesses.
