Fresno residents explore legal options for city's water woes

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Residents in northeast Fresno are exploring their legal options against the city over on-going water issues.

The meeting comes one day after the first class action suit was filed on behalf of three residents. The lawsuit said the city failed to test, report and investigate issues with the water supply and failed to warn the public after years of complaints from residents over discolored water.

"The trust in the governmental entity and the city has been shattered," attorney Raymond Boucher said. "And one of our goals and one of our responsibilities is to bridge that, to be that voice for them and to make sure that everything is done to protect them, to fix the problem and to make sure we monitor going forward."

The city has yet to respond to the lawsuit but they continue to run tests in neighborhoods impacted by the problem. It's also unclear if other lawsuits will be filed in the future.
