FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A local winery made a prestigious "Best of 2015" list.
One of their wines made Forbes Magazine's Best10 Wine list.
The high praise has resulted in a constant flow of new customers at Fasi Estate Winery. Forbes called a 2010 Fasi Crest Syrah, private reserve, "a nice surprise from a relatively unknown region in California - Madera."
Manager Erica Magarian wasn't sure how the writer knew about the selection which featured hints of both berries and tobacco. Magarian said, "That was a great year for us. The 2010 sold very well. It sold out of our tasting room in under three months. We made over 800 bottles of that particular vintage."
It went quickly but Magarian had no idea it was destined for greatness. The boutique winery and tasting room is located at a scenic spot in Friant in Madera County.
Fasi grows over 40 acres of organic Syrah grapes. The award was also a big win for the Madera appellation - or region - which is home to 12 wineries. Magarian explained, "We had a lot of new customers come up here over the weekend and ask about the Forbes article and ask about our new wines that we have available that we are showcasing at the estate."
The winning wine has sold out but Fasi Estate has other selections which have earned awards from around the state. Some were still aging in barrels.
