Madera home destroyed in fire

MADERA, Calif. (KFSN) -- The house is on Sandpiper Way in the Madera Acres neighborhood just east of the Amtrak Station on Road 26.

The flames were first spotted by the family inside just after midnight. Two adults and three children were able to escape. Fire officials believe it may have started in the garage where a few classic cars were damaged.

Firefighters say they showed up to see the homeowner using a fire exstinguisher to try to battle the blaze. Investigators believe the fire may have started in the garage.

The house is a total loss. The family is now staying with relatives.
