Man dead after crash on Highway 180
Police say a pickup truck traveling eastbound crossed over the yellow lines and collided with two cars, one head on.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Traffic has cleared up following a three-car collision in Fresno County that left one person dead.

The crash happened one Highway 180, just east of Rio Vista.

Police say a pickup truck traveling eastbound crossed over the yellow lines and clipped the mirror of another car traveling the opposite direction.

They say that truck then continued to cross even further until it collided head-on with a blue car, killing the driver.

"Initially, the vehicle had caught fire, however, someone was able to use a fire extinguisher to put the fire out and then the party was removed from the vehicle where they checked his vitals and attempted CPR but found that he had already passed," Sgt. Jeffrey Cipolla with the California Highway Patrol said.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.

Officers say drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
