Man dead after driving truck into Fresno canal

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man is dead Friday afternoon after his truck careened into a Fresno canal, authorities said.

The truck was completely submerged in water after the driver veered off the intersection and drove into a canal at Thorne and Nielsen Avenues, the Fresno Fire Department said.

Crews pulled the unconscious man out and transported him to Community Regional Medical Center where he later died.

Authorities are investigating what led up to the crash.
