FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The smoke is clearing Wednesday morning in southwest Fresno after a recycling plant caught fire.

The fire sparked just after 11 p.m. near Highway 99 and Cedar Avenue. It was at the Cedar Avenue Recycling and Transfer Station.

Paper products caught fire. Witnesses saw the fire burning from across the highway and called it in. Firefighters stopped the flames from spreading inside and managed to keep the building from being damaged.

"The sprinklers that were inside the facility itself kind of kept it at bay," Fresno Fire Department Batt. Chief Javier Lara said. "Kept it from going inside the structure. Crews arrived here fairly quickly, happened to be the same one."

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
