FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A woman was killed Monday after a big rig collided with an SUV in Fresno County, according to the California Highway Patrol. A big rig collided with a gray Ford Flex just before 5 p.m. on southbound Highway 99 and Clovis Avenue, just north of Fowler. Authorities say traffic slowed down and the big rig did not stop in time -- slamming into the Ford and pushing it into the retaining wall.
The 58-year-old driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Ford taken to Community Regional Medical Center with a broken arm.
Multiple lanes were closed off by the CHP as investigators looked into the cause of the crash. The freeway has since reopened.
