FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- If you live in Tulare, Exeter or Farmersville, Tulare Animal Services is offering free pet microchipping during the month of December.

We talked to Officer Heasley at the Tulare Animal Services and she said there are a few restrictions. To start, licensing is required at the time of implant and there is a $25 fee if your pet is unaltered, or a $10 fee if your pet has already been fixed. You also must be a resident of Tulare, Exeter or Farmersville and be able to prove it.

That said, Tulare Animal Services said they are raising their licensing fees on January 1st. If your pet is unaltered, the fees will increase from $25 to $75. Microchipping your dog or cat normally costs $35.

The costs of the microchips are being sponsored by 'Friends of Tulare County Animal Services,' the group's foundation.
