Holiday pet adoption drive
There is a severe need for collars, leashes, treats, food, blankets, beds, toys and anything else related to a pet's well being.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The holiday season is here and while many of us are rushing out to buy presents for friends and family, local animal shelters are hoping you'll think of some less fortunate pets this season.

There is a severe need for collars, leashes, treats, food, blankets, beds, toys and anything else related to a pet's well being.

Fresno has one of the highest euthanasia rates across the country. About 95,000 animals are accepted into shelters across the Valley every year -- or about 260 per day

The pet drive runs now until Wednesday, December 23rd. You can donate items from leashes to toys to dog food. Boxes are up across Fresno at locally owned and operated pet stores -- such as Whittie's Pets, Kelley's Pets, Top Dog Wash and Fresno and Clovis Pet Extreme's.

Non profit participants include: The Fresno Bully Rescue, Labrador Retriever Rescue Fresno, the Valley Animal Shelter and ACT (Animal Compassion Team) Fresno.
