FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno Bully Rescue said a puppy suffering from mange was found lying in the heat, with no food or shelter, covered in a thick layer of motor oil on Tuesday.
A good Samaritan found the dog and took him to Abby Pet Hospital for treatment, according to Fresno Bully Rescue. The hospital will be treating the dog, now named "Dodger," for mange and skin infection. He will then be going to a foster home.
The rescue group said it is a misconception that motor oil can cure mange, and it is actually toxic and deadly to dogs.
The group is now asking for donations to cover Dodger's medical costs. They say donations can be made at fresnobullyrescue.org, or directly to Abby Pet Hospital.
