FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Joe Beamon described what it sounded like when a man driving a Toyota Camry was gunned down right in front of his house around 12:30 early Thursday morning.

"It stirred people up for sure, a couple of us on this side walked out to see what was going on. At first you're a little sketched out, trying to be cool, check out what's going on.

When Beamon and his neighbors walked out, they noticed the Camry was hit multiple times and the man behind the wheel was slumped over in the driver's seat.

"I saw what looked like an injury from his side area. I didn't really see too much more, there were bullet holes just above the handle on the car."

The man would later die at the hospital, but lucky for detectives, a security camera from a nearby home caught a white pick-up leaving the scene soon after. A person believed to be driving a vehicle matching that description showed up at police headquarters.

Mark Hudson, with the Fresno Police, said, "They did take him into custody, detectives are still investigating this crime. We don't know much at this point, we're still interviewing the person who turned them self in to get his side of the story. At this point were still in the middle of this investigation."

The man who turned himself in remains in custody as detectives tell me they are getting close to wrapping up this case.
