FRESNO, Calif. -- The backlash against Planned Parenthood spilled into the streets of Downtown Fresno on Saturday.
Right to Life of Central California organized the rally. The group says it's protesting Planned Parenthood's alleged practice of harvesting and selling the body parts of aborted children.
The protest on Fulton Street was just one of hundreds across the nation on Saturday. Organizers say the City of Fresno can do without the clinic.
"Planned Parenthood is under federal investigation right now yet they are still receiving over a million dollars a day in tax payer funds. It's time for that to stop that we don't need planned parenthood here in Fresno," said Elizabeth Goddard, Right to Life of Central California.
The non-profit responded saying in part:
"At Planned Parenthood, we put the safety of our patients and our staff first and foremost; women should always be able to get health care without fear of violence, harassment or intimidation.
"These attacks are not just on Planned Parenthood, they harm the women and men who rely on Planned Parenthood for essential reproductive health services."
