FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- From inspiring speeches, to informative workshops, thousands of women spent the day in Downtown Fresno at the 27th annual women's conference.

This year's theme was "Nurture You." Every speaker had their own message that ranged from finances to assertiveness and stress.

Actress Valerie Bertinelli was the keynote speaker. She urged the audience of more than 35-hundred to embrace a more positive life.

Valerie Bertinelli said, "I think more women need to be nice to each other. We have bad examples on television all of the real housewives of whatever town they're in, I would never have those people as friends. I want someone who supports me and backs me up and loves me."

Bertinelli also shared stories of working with Betty White on the show "Hot in Cleveland" as well as her very public weight loss and failed marriage to rocker Eddie Van Halen.
