FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Some Fresno State students are getting ready to show off their newest creation in Sacramento.
On Monday, they held a send-off party for their tiny house project. Through a competition created by the Sacramento Municipal Utilities District, students were given the task of building a self-sufficient, solar-powered and eco-friendly home.
"The house is about 8-foot-by-24," Fresno State associate professor Dr. Vivien Luo explained. "So, it's 190 square feet in size and we have eight solar modules on the top which can produce about two kilowatts per hour."
The judging begins Tuesday in Sacramento. Fresno State is one of 10 universities and colleges competing for $30,000 dollars in prizes.
