New York Giants tight end Daniel Fells had a seventh surgery on his foot Saturday and has two more scheduled, agent Ron Slavin told ESPN's Lisa Salters.

According to Slavin, doctors finally think they have Fells' MRSA infection under control. Future surgeries will be performed to further clean out the infected area in order to make sure it does not return. These procedures will also include plastic surgery on his foot that was damaged by the infection.

Fells hopes to leave the hospital by the end of this week or early next week, Slavin said. The two future surgeries would take place after he is released from the hospital in order to give his foot a chance to heal more before they proceed.

Slavin said the last 17 days have been "a roller coaster for [Fells] emotionally." Fells has two children (ages 4 and 2) and hasn't been able to see them because he and his wife, Nahall, don't want them to see him the way he looks right now. Fells' wife has been sleeping by his bedside every night in a recliner.

The Giants dedicated their win over the 49ers last Sunday to Fells and presented him a game ball via Skype on Monday. Slavin said Fells was uplifted by the gesture.

"It made him feel normal," Slavin said.

Fells plans to watch Monday night's game against the Philadelphia Eagles from his hospital room. He has been on season-ending injured reserve since Oct. 5.
