NEW YORK -- The Oakland Athletics have put outfielder Stephen Piscotty on the bereavement list and recalled right-hander Kendall Graveman from Triple-A Nashville.
Graveman started Friday night against New York at Yankee Stadium and got the win after going six innings and allowing four runs (one earned) in Oakland's 10-5 win. He was sent down April 26 after going 0-5 with an 8.89 ERA in six starts for the A's.
Piscotty's mother, Gretchen, died Sunday from Lou Gehrig's disease. The 27-year-old played twice in Oakland this week, going 1-for-3 in each game. He stayed with his family in the Oakland area when the Athletics headed to New York.
Piscotty is hitting .248 with two home runs and 13 RBIs in 34 games. He was traded from St. Louis to Oakland during the winter.
