PORTLAND, Ore. -- Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard continues to recover from a severely sprained left ankle and will not play against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, league sources told ESPN.
Lillard, who will miss his second game because of the injury, did not participate in practice Tuesday.
Sources told ESPN that Lillard could make his return at the start of the team's three-game road trip beginning in San Antonio on Friday.
The All-Star is averaging 27.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.2 assists this season, and his absence comes at a rough time for Portland.
Portland has lost six straight and 10 of its last 11. At an underwhelming 13-20, the Trail Blazers currently sit in the 10th spot in the Western Conference standings, two games behind Sacramento for the eighth and final playoff berth.
Shooting guard C.J. McCollum will spend the bulk of the minutes at point guard in Lillard's absence.
