DeFrancesco Delivers On Promise
For the first time since 1998, the Fresno Grizzlies are division champions and that's also the last time there was playoff baseball for Fresno at the Triple-A level.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- For the first time since 1998, the Fresno Grizzlies are division champions and that's also the last time there was playoff baseball for Fresno at the Triple-A level.

This was the scene inside the Grizzlies' clubhouse after beating Iowa in game two of a Tuesday night's doubleheader.

Champagne showers for everyone involved. Fresno is guaranteed two playoff home games. The first one will take place September 3rd.

The man who said from day one that this team was out to win it's division and make the playoffs is Tony DeFrancesco. The longtime minor league manager won his 8th division title with this latest achievement. Make that 17 winning seasons in 21 years at that position.

You want rings? He's got three at the Triple-A level.

The Grizzlies at 79-51 are tied for the best record in the Pacific Coast League this season. They're the first team to clinch a playoff spot.
