Dodgers' Yasiel Puig has foot contusion, hip soreness

SAN FRANCISCO -- Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig crashed into a wall while chasing a foul ball Saturday and was forced to leave the game because of soreness in his left foot and hip.

Puig was hurt during the Dodgers' 15-6 win over the San Francisco Giants in the opener of a day-night doubleheader.

X-rays on the foot came back negative, and the Dodgers say Puig is dealing with a foot contusion and hip soreness.

Puig said he felt fine after getting his hip checked but was uncertain about the severity of his foot injury.

"I got some treatment,'' Puig said through an interpreter. "It hurts a little bit. But hopefully, God willing, I can get better with treatment.''

Puig made a running, one-handed catch and ran into a padded wall at AT&T Park while chasing down Nick Hundley's deep foul to end the first inning. Roberts and team trainers rushed out as Puig dropped to the ground before getting to one knee.

Puig remained on one knee for several moments, then got to his feet and walked slowly into the Dodgers' dugout. He came out to bat in the second inning, fouled a ball off his foot and then flied out.

First baseman Cody Bellinger moved to right field after Puig exited.
