ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Anaheim Ducks have assigned defensemen Shea Theodore and Brandon Montour to their AHL affiliate in San Diego.

The Ducks also released veteran left wing Sean Bergenheim from his professional tryout contract Thursday.

Theodore played 19 regular-season games and six postseason games last season for the Ducks, and Montour was an AHL All-Star.

The Ducks sent them back to the minors and kept promising 19-year-old Swedish defenseman Jacob Larsson, who made his North American debut last spring with one game for San Diego.

Bergenheim is an NHL veteran attempting to return to the league after spending last season with SC Bern in Switzerland.

Anaheim also assigned centers Kalle Kossila and Kyle MacKinnon to San Diego. The Ducks' roster has been reduced to 28 players, including four goalies.
