FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Two Valley communities are rallying behind a Fowler High School football player who was injured in a game on Friday night. Fowler defensive back Dylan Lopez was hurt making a tackle as a Firebaugh player attempted to score a touchdown.
Lopez sustained an injury to his neck vertebrae that will require surgery on Tuesday to stabilize his neck vertebrae.
A statement released by Fowler High School Principal Rick Romero reads in part:
The family of Dylan Lopez would like to thank the community support from Fowler and Firebaugh along with the passionate caring shown by his teammates, coaches and administrators at Fowler High School and Firebaugh. He has full motor movement of all his extremities and his doctors expect a full recovery after surgery.
