The Miami Dolphins and former Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno reached agreement on a one-year contract worth $3 million, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Moreno spent his first five seasons with the Broncos after being drafted 12th overall in 2009.

In Miami, he should bolster a running game that struggled last season as Lamar Miller (709 yards) and Daniel Thomas (406 yards) split time. Miami averaged just 90 rushing yards per game last season, ranking 26th.

After a bumpy start to his NFL career, Moreno enjoyed his best season in 2013, rushing for 1,038 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also had 60 receptions for 548 yards and three scores and proved to be key in pass protection. He was held to 17 yards on five carries and Denver to 27 rushing yards total in its loss to Seattle in the Super Bowl.

Moreno has a history of injuries. He's played a full 16-game season just twice in his career and was limited to a total of 15 games in 2011 and 2012.
