Major rainstorm flooded Petco Park

Opening Day may be just over a month away for the San Diego Padres, but their home -- Petco Park -- wasn't looking like it was in game shape earlier this week.

On Monday, pictures surfaced of the stadium's field completely under water after a major storm hit San Diego.

Padres spokeswoman Shana Wilson spoke to Fox 5 San Diego and said that although there is heavy rain, they do not anticipate any damage from the storm or water. Wilson also told Fox 5 that there actually wasn't any grass on the field at the time of the storm because the crew had just taken out the dirt from the Monster Jam event.

According to The San Diego Union-Tribune, "San Diego International Airport recorded 2.34 [inches] of rain on Monday -- a figure that's higher than the 2.19 [inches] that the city averages for the entire month of February."

Luckily, it appears the field crew was able to get the standing water off the field, and the Petco Park Twitter account shared a picture on Tuesday with the message, "All is back to normal."

Petco Park will host the second round of the World Baseball Classic from March 14-19.
