CHICAGO -- San Diego Padres manager Bud Black was ejected by plate umpire James Hoye in the second inning of a game against the Cubs.
Hoye called a first pitch strike to Will Middlebrooks on Sunday, and Black said something in the dugout. Hoye immediately ejected Black, who spoke briefly with Hoye and crew chief John Hirschbeck before going to the clubhouse.
On the next pitch, Middlebrooks hit a two-run homer off Jon Lester to tie the game 2-2.
