The Arizona Cardinals have agreed to a contract with veteran kicker Phil Dawson, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Dawson's arrival likely means the Cardinals will part ways with kickerChandler Catanzaro.

Dawson, one of the most accomplished and longest-tenured kickers in the league, had another strong season in 2016, missing just three field goal attempts and one extra point attempt for the 49ers. Along the way he became the 10th kicker in league history to make 400 field goals.

Dawson, who turned 42 in January, just completed his 18th NFL season, spending four of those with the Niners after the first 14 with the Browns. His 279 games are second most among active kickers and his 85 percent field goal rate is 11th all time and eighth among active kickers.

At the end of the season, Dawson, who made the Pro Bowl in 2012, indicated he was considering retirement but left the door open to exploring potential options.
