Oakland Raiders starting defensive end Mario Edwards Jr. was carted to the locker room with a hip injury in a 31-10 preseason win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Edwards was hurt in a crushing collision with Cardinals running back Chris Johnson at the line of scrimmage.

The second-year player was on his back while trainers attended to him, then was helped off the field and carted to the locker room.

Raiders coach Jack Del Rio would not address Edwards' injury in his postgame news conference.

The defensive end out of Florida State had 33 tackles with two sacks in his rookie season. The Raiders drafted him in the second round, 35th overall.

Edwards played in 14 games in 2015, 10 as a starter, but missed the last two games with a neck injury.

Edwards was reportedly seen leaving the locker room on crutches and not putting any weight on his left side.

Information from ESPN's Paul Gutierrez and The Associated Press was used in this report.
